AOA Traditional Rotating Internship/Residency

Lehigh Valley Health Network offers a traditional rotating internship which fulfills the requirements for dual accreditation by the American Board of Osteopathic Medicine, the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Family Practice (depending upon your field). The program is sponsored by the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and is geared toward providing a broad-based clinical training for individuals considering careers in Internal Medicine or Family Practice.

The AOA interns rotate through a traditional 13 block program, with emphasis placed on both inpatient and outpatient care. They are fully integrated into the various clinical rotations, being treated as equals with other residents. The AOA curriculum for those planning a career in Internal Medicine consists of one block of ICU, one block of Emergency Medicine, one block of Pediatrics, one block of Family Practice, one block of OB/GYN, two blocks of Internal Medicine, one block of ACCU, one block of General Surgery, 2 weeks Night Float, one block Ambulatory, two and one half blocks of elective.

For information regarding call, curriculum, benefits, etc., please refer to the Internal Medicine or Family Practice residency program information, depending on your interest.

Didactic teaching conferences are presented three times a week by Teaching attendings, and there also are weekly Medical Grand Rounds and Continuing Medical Education conferences presented by regionally and nationally recognized authorities. Resident Report is held three days per week. The interns are also given the opportunity to participate in OMT at PCOM every month when possible.
